Over 900 kg Beef seized in Assam’s Dhubri, 2 Arrested

Guwahati: Over 900 kg of raw beef has been seized and two people were arrested by Assam Police in Dhubri district on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted in Bheta Bazar area under College Town Out-Post of Dhubri.

Acting on specific input, a team led by Sub-Inspector Bhaskar Jyoti Nath College Town Out-Post In-charge conducted an operation in Jhagrarpar and Bheta Bazar area and seized the banned meat which was being loaded in a bolero pick-up van.

Upon searching the van, a huge quantity of raw beef over 900Kgs was recovered which was hidden inside the vehicle covered with onion and potato sacks.

The two arrestees identified as Sahidur Rahman resident of Baroghoripara in Rowa Part-ll and Nomizul Hoque resident of Maspara under Bilasipara Police Station.

According to reports, the vehicle bearing registration AS-17C-3437 was heading towards Dhubri from the neighbouring state of West Bengal.

Moreover, the vehicle has been seized by the Assam Police.

It needs to be mentioned that a case has been registered against the two accused in Dhubri College Town Out-Post bearing PS C/No 03/2023 U/S 295(a)/379/411ipc R/W sec 13(1) of the cattle preservation act.
