Passengers Narrowly Escape as Ferry Boat Capsizes in Assam’s Dibag River

Guwahati, 30th August: The estimated 32 passengers on board a ferry boat that crashed in the Dibag River at Sadia in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Wednesday morning prevented a potentially catastrophic tragedy.

According to reports, the boat’s sinking was brought on by a collision with a wooden structure submerged in the river. Amarpur Ghat was close by when the tragedy occurred, and watchful riverbank residents soon identified the dangerous situation.

Just as the boat began to sink, these onlookers sprung into action and carried out quick rescues, insuring the safety of the passengers. However, as a result of the incident, a four-wheeler and two motorbikes were flooded.

When the accident happened, the boat was traveling from Amarpur to the Chapakhowa region.

Ashok Singhal, the state’s minister of urban development, expressed his sadness over the incident in response.
