Petrol & Diesel Prices Hiked in Meghalaya

Guwahati: The Meghalaya government has hiked the prices of petrol and diesel on Thursday.

This has been informed by the state taxation minister James PK Sangma.

The tax on petrol was 13.5 per cent or Rs 11 per litre, whichever is higher. It has been revised to 13.5 per cent or Rs 12.50 per litre, whichever is higher, he said as reported by PTI.

Diesel was subject to a 5% tax, or Rs. 4 per litre, whichever was higher. It has been changed to 5% or Rs. 5.50 per litre, whichever is higher, he added.

“As you may know, Assam has increased the price of gasoline and fuel. The state government in this area adjusts its rates for gasoline and diesel to correspond with this and profit from the price discrepancy “After the cabinet approved the modifications, Sangma stated on Wednesday.

As a result, the price of gasoline in Byrnihat and Shillong would now be Rs 95.1 and Rs 96.83, respectively. According to the PTI article, he claimed that the price of diesel would be Rs 83.5 per litre in Byrnihat and Rs 84.72 in Shillong.

The Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC) recommendation to be extended, along with post-retirement benefits and allowances for all categories, was also approved by the government.

A request from the Education Department to alter the 2012 Directorate of Educational Research and Training Service Rules was also approved by the cabinet.
