PIL has been filed against coal mining in Dehing Patkai Rainforest at Guwahati High Court by Advocate Santanu Borthakur . On peoples will the advocate has filed the PIL as online protest against the illegal mining by Coal India Limited took a new high in social media in recent times. High court has issued notice to both government of Assam & Coal India Limited to reveal reason behind illegal coal mining in Dehing Patkai.
The High court has directed state government to submit affidavit regarding the Dehing-Patkai issue by 14th of July. The next hearing date of the PIL is on 20th of July. Interestingly a PIL was filed back in 2018 against Coal India Limited .
