PM Modi: District administrations have important role in good governance

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference on Saturday with District Magistrates (DMs) from various districts to discuss the implementation of key government programs.

According to the Prime Minister, “The role of district administrations in good governance is critical. It assists the government in better implementing the initiatives. Field visits and inspections should have detailed rules.”

However, several state chief ministers also took part in the discussion.

PM Modi stated that each district should learn from the successes of others while also assessing their own challenges.

In order to achieve ‘top to bottom’ as well as ‘bottom to top’ governance flow, the Prime Minister also called for a direct, emotional link between the administration and the public.

During the meeting, PM Modi received direct feedback on the progress and status of government projects and programs being implemented in the districts. He also asked them to make it a mission to make their districts more recognizable on a worldwide scale.

The PMO had previously stated in an official release that “the conversation will help analyze the performance and discover the issues that are being addressed.”

The conference is also targeted at attaining saturation of various initiatives by various departments in the districts in mission mode, in coordination with all stakeholders, according to the statement.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the government has made a number of efforts to address asymmetry in growth and development across the country. This is in line with the government’s aim to increase all citizens’ living conditions and guaranteeing inclusive growth for all “the press release stated.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Effective citizens’ engagement and seamless flow of information from top to bottom & bottom to top are vital for good governance, Hon PM Sri @narendramodi said at a Conference of DMs’ today. Honoured to have joined and listened to Adarniya PM’s vision on governance. @PMOIndia.”
