Price Hike: Commercial LPG Gas Cylinder Rates Increase in Assam, Check Details

Guwahati, 1st March: State-run oil marketing corporations (OMCs) have raised the price of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders by Rs 25, effective from March 1, 2024. In Guwahati’s Kamrup Metro district, a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder now costs Rs 2,003.5, marking a recent price surge.

Across various districts, the retail prices vary, with Hailakandi district witnessing an increase to Rs 2,243.5, and Cachar, Karimganj, and Barak Valley area now at Rs 2,230. Dima Hasao, the hill district, has seen the retail price climb to Rs 2,258 for commercial cylinders.

In Upper Assam, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh now have a retail price of Rs. 1853, while Sivasagar stands at Rs 1841, and Jorhat and Golaghat at Rs 1879.

Interestingly, in North Assam districts like Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, and Sonitpur, the price of a commercial cylinder is Rs 2030.

This marks the second consecutive increase in the price of commercial gas cylinders by state-run enterprises. Earlier, on February 1, the rates were raised by Rs 14. Prior to that, on December 1, 2023, oil firms had increased commercial gas cylinder rates by Rs 21 nationwide; however, on New Year’s Eve 2024, prices for 19-kg commercial cooking gas were reduced by Rs 39.50 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, domestic gas cylinder prices have remained stable in the state, with the Domestic LPG cylinder price in Assam (Guwahati) standing at Rs. 952.
