Prime Accused Anurag Chaliha Remanded to Police Custody in Indrani Tahbildar Case
Guwahati, 16th August: Anurag Chaliha, the key suspect in the Indrani Tahbildar death case, has been formally charged and remanded to police custody on Wednesday. Following his apprehension on August 14 from Sivasagar’s Demow, Chaliha was brought to Guwahati’s Chandmari Police Station for further investigation.
Initial reports indicate that Anurag Chaliha has been charged under Sections 120 (B) and 386 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to criminal conspiracy and extortion. The court has granted seven-day custody to the police for interrogation purposes.
Furthermore, the accused has been ordered to appear before the court on August 23. The legal proceedings mark a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of Indrani Tahbildar.
