Prime Accused of Manipur BJP Leader’s Murder Surrenders Before Police

Guwahati: One of the main suspects in the murder of BJP leader Laishram Rameshwor Singh from Manipur has turned himself in to the police.

Laishram Singh, the general secretary of Manipur BJP’s ex-servicemen cell was allegedly shot dead at his home in Thoubal Kshetri Leikai by two armed miscreants at around 11 am on Tuesday.

Ayekpam Keshorjit then turned himself up to Inspector P. Achouba Meitei, the office in command of Commando Imphal West.

32 licenced firearms, two magazines and nine 0.32 bullets were allegedly taken from Ayekpam Keshorjit’s possession. His mobile phone was also seized.

Manipur Police made their first arrest in the murder case on Tuesday. Upon receiving information, an immediate attempt was made to arrest the accused persons.

The vehicle used in the crime was seized after a hectic chase and search, and its driver, Naorem Ricky Pointing Singh, was taken into custody. The person who was arrested was staying at Haobam in Imphal and a hails from Bishnupur in West Bengal.

It should be noted that BJP leader Laishram Rameshwor Singh was shot by armed miscreants and suffered chest wounds. He was then immediately rushed to the Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
