Prime Minister calls urgent meeting with CM meeting on wednessday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an Urgent Meeting of Chief Ministers of all States on Wednesday amid a recent surge in cases of coronavirus in the Country. The Prime Minister will hold the Meeting at 12.30 PM on Wednesday through Video conferencing. India on Monday reported 26,291 cases of COVID-19, its highest SINGLE-DAY spike in 85 days, pushing the Country’s infection Tally to 1,13,85,339. The Country had recorded 26,624 New infections on December 20 last year. The Total Number of deaths due to the disease climbed to 1,58,725 with 118 more fatalities being recorded in 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry data. According to the Ministry, a rising trajectory of daily New cases is visible in Eight States — Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka. There are a Total of 2,19,262 active cases in the Country which is 1.93 per cent of the Total infections in the Country, while the recovery rate has dropped to 96.68 per cent.
