Prominent Writer Sivanath Barman No More

Guwahati: Renowned journalist and writer from Assam Dr. Sivanath Barman passed away on Thursday at the age of 80 in Guwahati’s Nemcare Hospital.

The writer was admitted to the hospital on December 3 under critical condition suffering from kidney disease.

In addition, he had excessive blood pressure, lung problems, and heart disease.

The renowned journalist was raised in Nazira after completing his education there. He was born in Jorhat in 1942.

He received his postgraduate degree from Gauhati University in 1963 and was a Physics graduate.

Dr. Barman, who retired from the post of Professor of Physics at Arya College in 2002, has made outstanding contributions to Assamese literature including ‘Jibon Parikrama’, ‘Srimanta Sankardev: Works and Achievements’, ‘Axomor Jonojati’, and many more.
