R-day 2022: India Celebrates 73rd Republic Day

Guwahati: President Ram Nath Kovind will lead the nation in celebrating the 73rd Republic Day today, showcasing India’s military power, cultural diversity, and other distinctive projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a tweet to the nation, saying, “Wishing you all a happy Republic Day. Jai Hind!”

However, for greater visibility, the march at Rajpath will start at 10:30 a.m., half an hour later than normal.

This year’s parade will include a big flypast by 75 Indian Air Force planes and helicopters, cultural performances by 480 dancers chosen from a statewide Vande Bharatam dance competition, and a National Cadet Corps’ ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman’ programme broadcast on large LED screens.

To view the live event online, people were requested to register on the MyGov platform. In the public choice category, they will be able to vote for the best marching contingent and tableau.

Meanwhile, the march will only admit double-vaccinated adults and single-dose vaccinated children aged 15 and up. There will be no foreign contingent this year due to the pandemic.

This year’s celebrations are extra significant because India is celebrating its 73th year of republic day.

Furthermore, Assam will celebrate Republic Day in Guwahati with only 1,200 people, all of whom will be double-dosed at the Khanapara venue which has a seating capacity of roughly 3,000.

It may be noted that the Assam State Disaster Management Authority issued an order for the celebration on Friday, limiting the number of people who can attend in the venue upto 1,000 in Guwahati, 500 in districts, and 200 elsewhere.
