Raijor Dal: Akhil Gogoi victim of deep-rooted political conspiracy
Guwahati: The Raijor Dal claimed that Gogoi had been the victim of a broad government plot against him in a statement issued in response to the Gauhati High Court’s decision on February 9 to revive the case against Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi. The party claimed that the Modi administration has been using the ED-CBI-NIA against the opposition ever since the BJP won the election.
The party claimed that since 2014, the ED has been looking into 21 political figures.
“Of these, 115 are leaders of opposition political parties. The ED probe against political leaders are four times higher than the UPA regime. Similarly, the CBI has also conducted an investigation against 124 political leaders during the Modi government. Of these, 118 are leaders of opposition political parties. This is how the BJP government has been using the country’s highest investigative agency against opposition politicians. Akhil Gogoi is the victim of one such conspiracy of the BJP”, the party said.
According to the party, Akhil Gogoi was arrested by the Assam Police in 2019 after the state’s anti-CAA agitation was put down. The NIA later took up the case. The legal conflict involving Akhil Gogoi continued for approximately 150 days. The Assamese populace contributed to the court fight’s ongoing expenses. In prison, Gogoi was chosen to serve as an MLA.
Akhil Gogoi, Dhairya Konwar, Bitu Sonowal, and Manas Konwar were exonerated in the case by the NIA court. According to the party, Akhil Gogoi has sharply criticised every act of populist government behaviour while serving as an MLA.
The party claimed that in the past, Akhil Gogoi and the Raijor Dal had exposed significant corruption and crimes committed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, his family, and his commercial and political associates, raising public knowledge of their wrongdoing. MLA Akhil Gogoi sharply criticised the BJP party and the administration outside the Assembly but received no response.
“In particular, the land scam of the Chief Minister’s family, the suspicious investment of Calcutta companies in the company of the Chief Minister’s son, the Bigom corruption like PPE kit scam, coal, supari syndicate etc. and the stand of Akhil Gogoi and the people’s party had put Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP party in a lot of trouble.”, the party said.
The party claimed that Akhil Gogoi was able to transform Sibsagar into an ideal district in a relatively brief period of time.
“So may be by imprisoning our party president, Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP government are trying to exploit the people of the state. It also wants to clear the path of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by locking Akhil Gogoi in jail and keeping him away from the people.”, the party said.
