Rouse Avenue Court Extends Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Judicial Custody Until July 25

National, July 12: The Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until July 25 in connection with the ongoing CBI investigation into a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy, according to ANI.

This development follows the Supreme Court’s earlier decision to grant interim bail to Kejriwal in the same case, which is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Supreme Court’s bench, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, referred critical questions arising from Kejriwal’s arrest to a larger bench for further consideration.

Justice Khanna remarked, “Given that the right to life is concerned and since the matter is referred to a larger bench, we direct Arvind Kejriwal to be released on interim bail.” However, the bench also clarified that this interim bail could be modified by the larger bench.

The excise policy case has garnered significant attention, involving allegations of irregularities and corruption during the policy’s formulation and implementation under Kejriwal’s administration. The CBI’s investigation into these allegations led to Kejriwal’s arrest and subsequent judicial custody.

The next hearing in this case at the Rouse Avenue Court is scheduled for July 25, where further developments are expected.
