Rs. 45 Crore Heroin and Yaba Tablets Seized in Joint Operation in Assam’s Cachar District
Guwahati, 25th July: In a major joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) and Cachar Police successfully intercepted a vehicle in Assam’s Cachar district, leading to the seizure of a substantial consignment of Heroin and yaba tablets valued at Rs. 45 crore.
Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the joint operation took place at the Ramnagar bypass in Silchar. The vehicle, en route from Mizoram to Silchar, was carrying the illicit drugs when it was intercepted by the STF and Cachar Police.
During the operation, the authorities confiscated 2.5 kg of Heroin and an astounding one lakh yaba tablets from the vehicle. The estimated value of the seized drugs amounts to a staggering Rs. 45 crore.
In connection with the seizure, the police made three significant arrests. The drug peddlers, identified as Manowar Hussain, Sadar Uddin, and Afsar Alam, have been taken into custody to face legal proceedings.
The successful joint operation has dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region, and authorities continue their efforts to curb the menace and apprehend those involved in such illicit activities.
