Russia Ukraine Conflict: Russia Destroys Ukraine Airbases, Air Defences; Ukrainian Service Members Killed
Moscow: At least hundreds of Ukrainian service members believed to have been killed in Russian attacks, Wall Street Journal reports.
According to Reuters, Russia claims to have devastated Ukraine’s airbases and air defences, while the Ukrainian military claims to have shot down as many as five enemy planes and a helicopter in the country’s eastern region.
Russia’s defence ministry previously stated that it is using high-precision weaponry to target Ukraine’s military infrastructure, air defence, and air forces, but that it is not hitting Ukrainian cities.
According to Kyiv, Moscow has also initiated a full-scale attack on Ukraine with military command centres in a number of cities being attacked by missiles.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Thursday that Russia is attacking his country’s “military infrastructure” and border guards, but he urged citizens not to be alarmed and promised victory.
“High-precision weapons are being used to cripple military infrastructure, air defence sites, military airfields, and aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the defence ministry said in a statement reported by Russian news media.
