Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Two missionary nuns from Mizoram stay back to help people
Guwahati: Two Missionaries of Charity (MC) nuns from Mizoram have decided to stay in the nation to help people who are facing a full-scale Russian invasion.
Sister Rosela Nuthangi and Sister Ann Frida are the two sisters who have refused to leave the nation, stating their “commitment to stay in Ukraine, risking their lives to aid refugees escaping the fighting and the injured.”
However, the two would rather remain in Ukraine, where they can assist the people in any way they can.
Sister Nuthangi is the Mizo community’s second MC sister, hailing from Sihphir village. She moved to Ukraine from Russia in 2017 and continues to serve there.
Sister Friday, meanwhile, is from Aizawl, Mizoram’s capital, and has been ministering in Kyiv for the past ten years.
According to Father Robert Faustin, a Salesian priest from Mizoram, the frightened families of these two Mizo nuns have been in frequent contact with them for the past few days.
