Sawan 2023: ‘Sawan’ month to last for 2 Months this year

Guwahati, 1 July: The festival of Shrawan Maas holds great importance for Hindus, particularly Shiva devotees. It is a period of spiritual devotion, fasting, and merriment for millions of Hindus in India and other parts of the world.

The month of Sawan is going to start from July 04. Lord Shiva is worshiped in the month of Sawan. Bhole devotees try to please Shiva throughout this month. In this month, some special tasks are considered auspicious, while some work is forbidden. This year, the first Monday of Sawan will be observed on July 10. Shiva devotees are always waiting for the month of Sawan. But, this time Sawan is going to be very special. Actually, this time the month of Sawan is going to be 2 months. This sawan will start from Tuesday, July 04, 2023 and will end on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

The month of Sawan will be 58 days this time. This coincidence has happened after almost 19 years. According to the Hindu calendar, this time Sawan is falling for 2 months due to excess mass. The festival will begin on July 18 and conclude on August 16.

According to the Hindu calendar, an additional month appears every third year, which is called Adhimas, Malamas and Purushottam month. According to the Vedic calendar, there is a change of zodiac of the Sun every month, which is known as Surya Sankranti. But if there is not a month Sankranti at an interval of three years, then this month is known as Adhimas.

Due to excess mass, there will be a total of 8 Sawan Mondays in the year 2023. These are the dates of Monday of Sawan 10 July, 17 July, 24 July, 31 July, 7 August, 14 August, 21 August and 28 August.

In the scriptures, the month of Sawan is considered to be a very holy month. Worshiping and consecrating Lord Shiva in this month brings special virtue. In this month, Lord Shiva fulfills all the wishes of his devotees. If there is any problem related to marriage in life, then fasting and worshiping on Monday is beneficial. Monday puja should be done by wearing green, red, white, saffron, yellow or sky colored clothes.
