SC rejects plea seeking cancellation of offline board exams

Guwahati: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition that sought to have all state boards, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), and the National Institute of Open Schooling cancel offline examinations for grades 10 and 12.

The Supreme Court has stated these petitions as, “ill-advised and premature.”

“This needs to come to an end. If you come up again, you’ll pay a hefty price. Allow students and officials to carry out their duties. It’s impossible to PIL like this. Whoever has filed, we are saying for that petitioner,” stated the Supreme Court.

“These petitions raise false hopes; let the authorities decide,” Justice Khanwilkar stated.

Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai filed the petition. Students from over 15 states throughout the country have filed a petition.

The CBSE has announced that term two board exams for classes 10 and 12 will begin on April 26.
