Several Apps on Play Store contain Trojan Virus?
Guwahati: Over the past several years, Google has been emphasizing security for Android devices but it still needs a lot of improvement as there has been several reports where applications (apps) on the Play Store have been alleged of stealing social media passwords from such devices.
Among these, nine apps were found to be Trojans. All these apps were available on Google Play Store disguised as photo editing or app lock software.
The most popular among these apps is the PIP Photo app. This app was downloaded by more 50 lakh people. Although after it was found that the app was a “virus” and was remove from the store later, several people still have it installed on their mobile devices. According to a report by Arstechnica, the publishers of these apps were also banned.
The apps found to be the virus allegedly used to ‘ask permission’ to log into one’s social media account and then, these allegedly steal the users’ passwords.
Some of the apps alleged to be a virus are PIP Photo, Processing Photo, Rubbish Cleaner, Horoscope Daily, App Lock Keep, Lock it Master, Horoscope Pi, App Lock Manager and Inwell Fitness.
People often use these apps as they think it to be very helpful for their lifestyle. But one installed, these apps allegedly steal passwords from the mobile or android devices. As precaution or safety measure, immediate removal of these apps might avoid of the social media account to be hacked.
