Severe Flooding Hits Arunachal Pradesh After Cloud Burst
Northeast Desk, 17th September: A cloud burst in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi-Yomia district has unleashed severe flooding, causing extensive damage to property and vital infrastructure. The incident, which transpired in Lhallung village near Mechukha, the district headquarters, has had dire repercussions, particularly impacting two power stations. Consequently, the power supply to Mechuka Township and its vicinity was disrupted, as stated in an official report.
The floods have wreaked havoc across multiple regions, devastating agricultural fields, standing crops, residential houses, water supply systems, and livestock. Thankfully, there have been no reports of human casualties as of now.
Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker, Passang Dorjee Sona, who represents the Mechuka constituency, has expressed deep concern about the situation. He has instructed the district administration to swiftly provide assistance to the affected families, acknowledging the urgency of the situation.
