Sikkim CM Tamang Launches Book on Human Civilization, Announces Government Support for Writers
Northeast Desk, 5th August: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang released a book titled ‘Vishwama Manav Sabhyata: Jatiya Brihat Itihas, Sanskriti ra Parampara’ authored by TB Subba, at a function organized by Kinar Prakashan Gangtok. The book is a comprehensive work on human civilization, language, and culture.
CM Tamang praised the book, saying it demonstrates a deep understanding of human nature and mastery of the Nepali language. He announced that the state government will purchase 3000 copies and provide a grant of Rs 10 lakhs to the author. An additional Rs 10 lakhs was previously given to assist in completing the book.
The CM highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting writers, poets, and historians, mentioning various initiatives like the Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas and increasing the annual budget of the Sikkim Academy to Rs 1 crore. He also announced plans to establish boards on language, literature, and art to provide a platform for those connected to these fields.
Speakers at the event, including C P Bhattarai and Professor Krishnaraj Ghatani, emphasized the importance of preserving historical knowledge and the contributions of writers to society. The book was described as an encyclopedia that can enrich society and benefit future generations.
