Sikkim Government Approves Creation of Over 22,000 Positions

Northeast Desk, 20th February: In a significant development, a crucial cabinet meeting held in Sikkim today sanctioned the creation of 22,746 positions, aimed at regularizing the employment status of individuals currently serving on a temporary basis across various departments.

These positions encompass employees currently engaged on various bases such as M.R. basis, Adhoc Basis, Contractual Basis, One Family One Job (OFOJ), Consolidated Pay, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Campa and JICA projects under the Forest Department, Home Guards, Village Guards, Nurses, ICDS-Anganwadi Workers and helpers, as well as ASHA Workers within the Department of Personnel (DoP), Govt. of Sikkim.

Additionally, 1,948 posts have been created within the Education department to regularize Pre-Primary, Primary, Graduate, and Post-Graduate Teachers. These initiatives aim to provide substantial support to families in need and boost the confidence of regular staff, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being and happiness of underprivileged families residing in various parts of the state.

Sikkim’s Chief Minister, in a statement shared on his official Facebook page, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to extending a helping hand to deprived families and providing employment opportunities that foster economic balance and prosperity. The vision is to ensure that every member of underprivileged families secures a livelihood to support their households, thereby fostering a flourishing society grounded in safety, security, and meaningful contributions from all its members.
