Sr Advocate Nilay Dutta passes away

Guwahati: Senior advocate Nilay Dutta breathed his last on Sunday after suffering a heart attack at Coorg in Karnataka.

He had gone to Karnataka to celebrate his 46th marriage anniversary with his family and friends.

One of his friends said that around 2:00 AM Dutta suffered a massive heart attack in the resort where they were staying and he died before reaching the hospital, reports claimed.

Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma condoling his demise twitted, “Assam has lost one of the brightest lawyers, Nilay Dutta, who also had significantly contributed in many other fields including sports administration. His demise has created a huge void difficult to be filled up. Offer my deepest condolences to his family and well-wishers.”

It may be mentioned that he was the advocate general of Arunachal Pradesh, member of Assam Law Commission, adviser to All Assam Lawyers’ Association, and cricket umpire, referee and administrator.
