Guwahati: Three times National Award winner Surekha Sikri took her last breathe at the age of 75 on Friday. She died of a cardiac arrest and had also suffered a brain stroke recently.
Surekha Sikri was awarded the National Award thrice for the films ‘Tamas’, Mammo’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’. She has also been awarded with the Sangit Natak Academy Award in 1989. Even though she has acted in many films but her name is known for her role of Dadi Saa of the TV serial Balika Badhu.
She was born on April 19, 1945, in Delhi. Surekha was married to Hemant Rege and has a son named Rahul.
Some of her renowned works were in films like Hamko Diwana Kar Gaye, Badhaai Ho, Sheer Korma and Ghost Stories. Apart from this Surekha also worked in many famous serials like Balika Badhu, Ek tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Pardesh Mei Hai Mera Dil, Sath Phere, etc.
