Suspected poacher held in Assam with 2 kg elephant tusk

Guwahati, 26th February: The Assam Forest Department in a joint operation with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a suspected poacher from the Tamulpur district with elephant tusks.

The arrested poacher has been identified as Swaneshwar Sutradhar

Based on a tip-off, a joint operation was carried out with 24th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) led by Kumarikata Forest Range Officer Biren Chandra Boro.

In the operation, the poacher was arrested with elephant tusks.

According to sources, the man was arrested from the banks of the Kala River in Kumarikata.

Swaneshwar Sutradhar is suspected to have been brought in with an aim to sell the teeth’s of an elephant weighing around 2kg.

It needs to mention that the poacher will be produced before the court today under legal action.

Earlier, the forest department had raided Tamulpur and detained another person along with elephant tusks.
