Thieves smash vehicle window, loot more than Rs 1 lakh in Assam’s Dibrugarh
Guwahati: In broad daylight, thieves looted valuables from a vehicle by smashing the glass of the vehicle in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Saturday.
The incident took place in the Dibrugarh town of the district when the thieves allegedly decamped with cash, mobile phone and jewellery.
According to police, a group of five female teachers from the Sacred Groove Academy arrived in their car at the Chowkidinghee playground to attend the ongoing cultural and ethnic festival.
According to reports, the teachers parked the car number registered with AS-06-U-4481 outside the playground and went inside.
However, as they emerged, they saw that the car’s window had been smashed. The victims reportedly said they were robbed of Rs 1.05 lakh, a phone, and a gold chain.
Reports further claimed that all the five teachers had come straight from school after receiving their monthly salary.
Meanwhile, an FIR was registered at the Milan Nagar police outpost.
It may be mentioned that the police officials have started an investigation and are looking through CCTV footage for leads.
