Tibetans From Miao Town in Arunachal Hold Protest Against China
Guwahati: As many as 350 local Tibetans in Arunachal Pradesh staged a protest in the Miao town of the Changlang district on April 12 against China’s recent initiatives to “standardize” locations on Indian soil.
It was announced on Sunday by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs that 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh under “Zangnan,” a new term for Southern Tibet would be “standardized.” Beijing refers to Arunachal Pradesh as Southern Tibet.
New Delhi swiftly rejected China’s bid to rename 11 sites in Arunachal Pradesh declaring that the area has always been and always will be “an integral and unseparable part of India.”
Around nine protesters dressed as Chupa and Bonsui from the Tibetan Women Association (TWA) and members of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RYTC) organised a protest. They carried the Indian tricolour as well as the yellow Tibetan flag.
One of the dissidents stated that we have gathered here today to criticise China for its latest operations including the delivery of 11 names of locations, mountains and waterways located in Arunachal Pradesh.
The region’s stability and security are only further threatened by China’s blatant act of aggression.
