TMC Abhishek Banerjee apologises to journalists mistreated by his security personnel in Guwahati
Guwahati: National General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress Abhishek Banerjee apologised to journalists in Guwahati who had been mistreated by his security staff at ITA Machkhowa during a party meeting on Wednesday.
the General Secretary apologised to the media, claiming that he had only recently become aware of the occurrence after the meeting.
Banerjee’s security guards are accused of misbehaving with a group of journalists in Guwahati of Assam.
This incident was reported from Machkhowa’s ITA auditorium.
Banerjee is in Guwahati to establish the party’s office in the state capital.
A group of journalists at the ITA auditorium in Guwahati of Assam claimed that security men accompanying TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee from West Bengal misbehaved with them.
Security officers instructed the scribes to “wait and see after three years,” according to a Guwahati-based journalist who was present inside the ITA auditorium.
Notably, the next assembly elections in Assam will be held in 2026.
According to insiders, a group of journalists “made an unnecessary uproar because checking at the ITA auditorium’s entry gate is mandatory, especially when a senior political leader is there.”
