TMPK Demand Justice over Constable allegedly abused by Officer

Guwahati: The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) union members conducted rallies at the Bihpuria Police Station in the Lakhimpur district of Assam on Tuesday.

The demonstrators requested that Officer-in-Charge (OC) Utpal Bora be removed from his position immediately for allegedly abusing police constable Premadhar Narah.

According to reports, Narah claimed on Monday that Utpal Bora had physically and mentally tortured him in the police station.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta have been petitioned by TMPK protesters to investigate into the incident and take action against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the constable’s reserve has been closed.
