Guwahati, 31st July: A horrifying accident unfolded right in front of the Chapar police station, leaving the community in shock and emphasizing the critical need for road safety measures. On Monday, a speeding bike allegedly struck a traffic police officer who was diligently performing his duty.
Sources indicate that the bike was violating traffic regulations when the collision occurred, underscoring the importance of adhering to traffic rules to prevent such calamities.
The impact of the accident was devastating, resulting in serious injuries to the traffic police officer, who was immediately sent to Bongaigaon in critical condition for medical treatment. Tragically, the bike’s rider, identified as Hirak Jyoti Roy, and a young woman also suffered injuries in the collision.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules to ensure the safety of all road users.
Earlier, on May 20, another fatal accident claimed a life on National Highway 15 in Assam’s Dhemaji. A speeding vehicle collided with a motorbike, resulting in the untimely death of the biker, identified as Niranjan Bordoloi. The collision had severe consequences, leaving Niranjan’s wife critically injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
As these unfortunate incidents unfold, authorities and the public are urged to prioritize road safety measures and vigilance to prevent further tragedies on the roads of Assam.
