Guwahati, 28th July: A youth lost his life in a tragic incident of electrocution while performing maintenance work on an electric pole at Palashbari in Assam’s Kamrup district on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Amar Das from Gobardhan area in Chaygaon, worked as a subordinate employee of the contractor assigned to the area. During the maintenance work, an unfortunate electrical malfunction occurred, resulting in a sudden surge of electricity that fatally shocked Amar, causing his instant death.
Shockingly, Amar’s lifeless body was left dangling from the pole for over an hour before help arrived. Locals raised concerns, alleging that the power supply was not cut off during the time he was working, leading to the tragic incident.
Bijoynagar police promptly reached the accident spot and recovered the body for post-mortem, as investigations into the incident are underway.
These unfortunate incidents serve as grim reminders of the importance of ensuring strict safety measures and protocols while working with electrical systems and infrastructure. Authorities and communities alike are called upon to take proactive steps to prevent such tragedies in the future.
