Tragic Electrocution: Minor Boy Dies After Contact with High-Voltage Wire in Assam
Guwahati, 9th August: In a heart-wrenching incident, a young boy lost his life after being electrocuted by a high-voltage wire at the Tara Tea Estate in Doom Dooma, Assam. The unfortunate event unfolded on Wednesday afternoon as the minor, identified as Deb Nayak, was on his way back from school.
Deb Nayak, son of Bishnu Nayak and a resident of the tea estate, met with the tragic incident while attempting to remove a wire and cross the road during his journey home from school. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the pressing need for better safety measures and awareness about potential hazards.
The incident has drawn attention to the alleged negligence of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB). The All Assam Tea Student Association (AATSA) immediately responded, accusing the ASEB of failing to take necessary precautions and highlighting their alleged role in the unfortunate event. According to the AATSA, the electricity connection was not disconnected, leaving the wire live on the street, which ultimately led to the devastating loss of the young boy’s life.
Strong allegations have been made against the ASEB, with the AATSA demanding the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the department. Expressing their outrage, the AATSA emphasized that this incident underscores the dire consequences of negligence, and if similar occurrences happen in the future, the association is prepared to take stringent action against the department.
The incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of vigilance and strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly in areas where potential hazards can lead to such tragic outcomes. As the community mourns the loss of young Deb Nayak, questions arise about the responsibility of authorities in ensuring the safety of citizens, especially vulnerable children.
