Tripura: Boost for Science Education as Rs 50 Crore Sanctioned for Science Park and Planetariums

Northeast Desk, 29th November: In a significant move to promote science and technology education among students in Tripura, an allocation of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned jointly by the North Eastern Council and the Ministry of Culture. The funds will be dedicated to establishing a science park, theme-based galleries, and planetariums within the Science City in Agartala.

The announcement was made during the 37th Executive Committee Meeting of the Tripura State Council of Science & Technology (TSCST), chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Emphasizing the importance of cultivating interest in science and technology among students, Dr. Saha urged innovative programs to engage and inspire the youth.

Dr. Saha highlighted the need for ongoing reviews to shape future science and technology development programs in the state. He directed the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment to collaborate with relevant departments and formulate action plans for various projects.

Animesh Das, the Director of Science, Technology, and Environment Department, informed the meeting about the initiation of a science park in Agartala’s Science City, with Rs 10.29 crore sanctioned by the North Eastern Council. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has allocated an extra Rs 40 crore for the establishment of theme-based galleries and planetariums, further enriching the educational landscape in Tripura.
