Tripura Chief Minister Honors Maharaja Bir Bikram on 116th Birth Anniversary

Northeast Desk, 19th August: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paid tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur on his 116th birth anniversary, celebrating him as the architect of modern Tripura. Saha emphasized the Maharaja’s significant contributions to education, infrastructure, and culture, which have left a lasting impact on the state.

In his social media post, Saha described the Maharaja as a visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire and shape Tripura’s future. The tribute was part of a two-day event in Khumulwng, West Tripura, organized by the INTACH Tripura Chapter and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The celebration featured a panel discussion and an exhibition highlighting the Maharaja’s life and achievements.

Addressing the audience at the Nuyai Auditorium, Saha criticized the previous administration for distancing the royal family from public recognition and failing to acknowledge their contributions. He noted that since 2018, his government has honored Maharaja Bir Bikram’s legacy by renaming the Agartala airport in his name, declaring his birthday a public holiday, and installing a full-length statue of the Maharaja at the airport.
