Northeast Desk, 9th March: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Saturday that the India-Bangladesh Maitri Setu, situated in the Sabroom Sub-division of the state’s South District, is poised to become operational soon.

Speaking at a program in Sabroom, Tripura’s South District, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 8,534.02 Crores, Dr. Saha praised the rapid pace of development in Tripura under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently stressed the importance of developing Northeast India for the overall progress of the country. Thanks to the Act East Policy, we are witnessing true development. PM Modi has introduced the HIRA Model and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 8,534 crores in Tripura, the highest amount,” he remarked.

Dr. Saha underscored the transformative changes in Tripura’s political landscape since 2018 under PM Modi’s leadership.

“We eagerly await the operation of Maitri Setu, which will transform Tripura into the gateway of Southeast Asia. The time has come, and soon operations through Maitri Setu will commence. Sabroom ICP, following Akhura and Srimantapur ICPs, is the largest in Tripura. People from Northeast India and other states will have easy access to the Chittagong port through this ICP. This achievement is a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to Tripura’s overall development. We are proud to have a leader who is propelling the country forward. I also want to express gratitude to PM Modi for this,” he concluded.
