Tripura: Collision Near Charilam Motor Stand Leaves One Dead and Nine Injured

Northeast Desk, 27th May: In a tragic accident late Sunday night, one laborer lost his life and nine others sustained serious injuries in a severe collision between a Bolero goods-laden vehicle and a lorry near Charilam Motor Stand in Sepahijala District.

The incident occurred around 11 PM as the laborers were returning home after their day’s work. The Bolero vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with a lorry, resulting in catastrophic consequences. Jahangir Mia was killed instantly, while the others suffered severe injuries.

Police sources reported that the impact of the collision was devastating. “The impact was catastrophic, killing one laborer instantly while nine others sustained severe injuries. The injured laborers were rescued and taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital for initial treatment and from there they were rushed to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment,” said a police officer.

The injured laborers were identified as Farooq Miah, Dulal Saha, Deepak Shil, Milon Miah, Subal Miah, Suhail Miah, Abdul Miah, Ripon Miah, and Nasir Miah.

Upon hearing about the accident, Sushanta Deb, the ruling MLA of Bishalgarh, rushed to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital to oversee the transfer of the injured to Agartala’s GB Pant Hospital. Their timely intervention played a crucial role in ensuring the injured received prompt medical attention.

The body of Jahangir Mia has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the driver of the lorry, responsible for the collision, fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police are actively working to locate and apprehend the individual responsible for this tragic event.
