Tripura Meteorological Department Warns of Hot and Humid Weather, Advises Precautionary Measures

Northeast Desk, 20th April: The Meteorological Department in Tripura has issued a cautionary advisory regarding the prevailing weather conditions in the state, forecasting a hot and humid day due to a partly cloudy sky.

According to a press release issued by the MeT department, the combination of partly cloudy sky conditions and high solar insolation is expected to elevate day temperatures to 36°C and above across many places in Tripura. Additionally, temperatures are likely to be above normal by 3 to 4°C in some areas over the next three days.

Furthermore, the MeT department highlighted the likelihood of increased moisture incursion in certain districts of Tripura, attributed to the South/southwesterly wind during this period. The forecast indicates that the hot and humid weather will persist until April 21.

In light of these predictions, the department has advised the public to take precautionary measures to mitigate the effects of the heat. Citizens are urged to avoid outdoor activities, especially between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m., and to stay hydrated by drinking sufficient water regularly, regardless of thirst. Additionally, individuals are advised to wear lightweight, light-colored, loose, and breathable cotton clothing to stay cool.

Furthermore, the MeT department emphasized the importance of providing shade and ample water to animals to ensure their well-being during the period of intense heat. By adhering to these guidelines, the public can better cope with the challenging weather conditions and stay safe and healthy.
