Tripura Police Held One with Arms & Ammunition ahead of Amit Shah’s visit to State

Guwahati: Tripura police on Tuesday in a successful raid arrested one person and seized arms and ammunition from his possession in ahead of time of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state on January 5.

One rifle, one 9mm pistol and live ammunition has been seized by the police officials.

According to reports, the seizure was made from Kumarghat under Unakoti district of the state.

Ahead of the assembly elections, Union Minister Amit Shah will travel to Tripura to inaugurate the eight-day Rath Yatra from the Dharmanagar area of North Tripura.

”Shah will also hold a rally in Sabroom of South Tripura district on the same day,” BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said.

He also said that the BJP president JP Nadda will participate in the programme on the concluding day of the yatra on January 12.

The ruling party refers to the “Rath Yatra” as the “Jana Viswas Yatra.”

“During the Yatra, the party will try to reach around 10 lakh people as it will cover all the 60 assembly segments of the state. There will be 200 rallies and over 100 processions to highlight the central and state governments’ welfare activities,” Bhattacharjee added.

As many as ten union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and central leaders are anticipated to participate in the “Rath Yatra” in addition to Amit Shah, he added.

State Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury discussed the topic and referred to the “Rath Yatra” as one of the largest political programmes the ruling party will be putting on before the Assembly Elections of the next year.
