Tripura Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 1 Crore, Arrest Two in Agartala

Agartala: In a significant bust, Tripura Police detained a cement-laden truck on Sunday morning and seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets, worth Rs 1 crore, from Agartala city. The operation, which took place around 6 am, was based on a tip-off received by the police.

According to West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar, the police teams from West and East Agartala Police Stations, led by Officers-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee and Paritosh Das, along with Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debaprasad Roy, swiftly responded to the information. They intercepted the 12-wheeler truck that had come from Meghalaya and was en route to Sonamura in Sepahijala district, carrying cement.

During a preliminary search, police recovered 1,20,000 Yaba tablets hidden in the truck, with an estimated value of Rs 1 crore. The two arrested individuals, identified as Jamal Hossen (43), the truck driver, and Mintu Barman (33), both residents of Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district, have been taken into custody. They will be produced in court, where the police will seek remand for further investigation into the matter.
