Tripura State Assembly Elections: BJP Team reaches State on candidate assessment survey

Guwahati: Tripura’s 60-seat assembly election is scheduled to take place in the second week of February, and all of the parties have started putting plans in place including choosing candidates and running for office.

According to BJP insiders, the party will soon meet in New Delhi or Guwahati to decide on the candidate list. Three BJP teams have already arrived in the state to survey the party’s legislators to learn more about their standing and popularity.

“As of yet, there hasn’t been a gathering to choose candidates for our party. But three BJP teams, including one from the centre, one from JP Nadda, the BJP’s national president, and another from Sambir Patra, the party’s northeast coordinator, have come. They are visiting each state assembly to gather feedback regarding the performances of the BJP MLAs in power from citizens and local leaders,” the report added.

He added that the delegation had come specifically to analyse the status of the MLAs in power and that they would also go to other legislatures where CPI (M) and Congress MLAs were present.

“After the assessment report they will submit it to the central BJP or to some other leaders. And based on that report a meeting would be held to finalize the name who will continue or not”, the insider from BJP informed.

Reports further added that the BJP will present fresh faces this time around and deny tickets to those MLAs who are running for the first time and MLAs who have reached the age of 75.

“Some new and vibrant people will be getting tickets this time. But this all depends of the central leadership”, the reports added.
