Northeast Desk, 19th August: Tripura will host a key Northeast Council (NEC) meeting on August 31 and September 1, marking a departure from the tradition of holding such gatherings in Assam or Meghalaya. Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the event, highlighting its significance for the region.
The meeting will feature six chief ministers and six Governors from Northeastern states, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The agenda will focus on critical issues such as border concerns and developmental challenges facing Tripura and the broader Northeast.
Saha emphasized the opportunity to showcase Tripura’s initiatives and promote inter-state cooperation. Preparations are in full swing, with Saha personally overseeing the arrangements to ensure the event’s success.
