Tripura to Issue New Ration Cards; Aadhaar e-KYC Deadline Set for September 30
Northeast Desk, August 17, 2024 — The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs of Tripura has announced that new digital ration cards will be issued to all consumers under the state’s public distribution system. To ensure seamless access to ration goods, the department has mandated that all existing ration cardholders complete their Aadhaar-linked e-KYC by September 30, 2024.
The department’s official notification requires all family members listed on the ration card to undergo Aadhaar e-KYC through fingerprint identification at their designated ration shops. This process is essential for the issuance of the new digital ration cards, which will replace the current paper versions.
Officials have noted that many consumers have yet to link their Aadhaar to their ration cards or complete the e-KYC process. Those with pending e-KYC are urged to visit their ration shops and complete the process using the e-POS machine. A list of such consumers is available at the ration shops.
Consumers are also advised to verify and update their family details, including name, age, gender, and address, on their ration cards. This can be done through the department’s website or by scanning the QR code provided in the notification. Corrections can be made online or with the assistance of the Food Department at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office.
