Tripura: 2 Bangladeshi women arrested for illegally entering Indian territory

Guwahati: Two Bangladeshi women and an Indian accomplice arrested for illegally infiltrating Indian territory by Tripura Police.

The two arrestees were identified as Shazeeda Khatun (25) and Kajali Akhter (24).

According to reports, the accused were allegedly entered Indian territory in Tripura four days ago in quest of work.

According to preliminary investigation, they met a 27-year-old woman called Nargis Akhter from Bagma in Gomati district through a mutual contact.

Shazeeda and Kajali were nabbed near the Dharmanagar railway station in North Tripura district, carrying two bags. Officials stated that Nargis submitted documentation verifying her Indian citizenship.

Officials alleged, “We have learned that the two others arrived from Dhaka, Bangladesh.”

Under sections 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 3 of the Passport Act, the two were arrested and charged with trafficking.

It may be mentioned that the women arrested had no prior criminal records and will appear in a local court on Tuesday.
