Twitter’s Blue Bird Logo Replaced With ‘Doge’ Meme
Guwahati: The famous blue bird emblem of Twitter which has served as a home button on the web version of the microblogging site has been replaced by the “doge” meme of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency by Twitter CEO Elon Musk once more.
Twitter users discovered the “doge” meme which is a component of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency logo and was made as a joke in 2013.
Musk also shared a hilarious post on his account wherein the ‘doge’ meme (which features the face of a Shiba Inu) in the car and telling the police officer, who seems to be seeing his driving license, that his photo has been changed.
Notably, the Twitter mobile app remained unchanged.
It is important to note that the doge image is well-known as the logo of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency which was developed in 2013 as a joke to mock other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, according to Variety.
The screenshot of the discussion between the anonymous account and Twitter’s CEO from March 26, 2022 in which the latter requested to change the bird logo to “doge,” was also shared by the company’s CEO. Musk tweeted a link to this article and added, “As promised.”
According to Variety, Musk who paid USD 44 billion to acquire Twitter last autumn is a well-known superfan of the Doge meme and has promoted Dogecoin on Twitter and while hosting “Saturday Night Live” last year. Dogecoin’s worth increased by over 20% on Monday after Twitter’s web logo changed.
After Musk tweeted in March 2022, prior to mounting his eventually successful bid to buy Twitter, “Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy. What should be done?” Musk tweeted.
@WSBChairman had responded, “just buy twitter… and change the bird logo to a doge.” Musk responded, “Haha that would sickkk”.
