Two Assam’s Candidates commit suicide after HSLC result

Guwahati: Two candidates committed suicide after the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination were announced on Tuesday.

A 15-year-old Rahul Bora who was a Mangaldoi resident, committed suicide the day before the results were announced. A suicide note found alongside his body. “Maa and Deuta (mother and father) I will not be able to give what you want. Therefore, I seek apology from you both. I wish you both to stay good.”

The 15-year-old who committed himself yesterday received letter grades in Sanskrit and received a second division in the HSLC examination, the results of which were announced today, although he was no longer present to hear his result.

Rahul Bora, the son of Tarini and Anna Bora, hanged himself in the kitchen of his home at about 2 pm in the absence of his parents.

On the other hand, another suicide instance was recorded in Merapani, in which a student committed suicide after failing the HSLC exam.

The student identified as Sobin Chutia was a resident of Jitour village in Charaimari. He was a student of Charaimari High School.

The Assam Board of Secondary Education administered the HSLC 2022 test, which was passed by 2,29,131 students.

A total of 4,05,582 students took the HSLC exam this year, with 64101 students passing in the third level, 99854 in the second division, and 65176 students passing in the first division.

The pass rate is currently at 56.49 percent.

Boys outperformed girls in the HSLC exam, with 62.91 percent of girls passing and 69.93 percent of boys passing.
