Two pilots killed after helicopter crashes in Chhattisgarh
Guwahati: Two pilots were killed in a helicopter crash Friday night at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
According to an AIR correspondent, the tragedy occurred as the Chhattisgarh state helicopter was on a routine training mission.
Two pilots on board the chopper were critically injured in the collision, according to Raipur senior superintendent of police Prashant Agrawal, and were transferred to a nearby private hospital where they were declared dead.
Captain Gopal Krishna Panda and Captain, A P Shrivastava were recognised as the deceased. Initial indications point to a technical breakdown as the cause of the disaster, according to a statement released by the state government.
It may be mentioned that to determine the actual cause, a full technical examination will be conducted at the request of the DGCA and the State Government.
