Two Women Apprehended in Assam for Aiding Drug Smugglers Escape

Guwahati, 8th September: Two women have been arrested in Assam’s Lakhimpur district for allegedly assisting drug smugglers in escaping from police custody.

Earlier, drug smugglers had managed to escape from police custody in Lakhimpur’s Bihpuria with the help of these two women. The women were accused of attacking the police while the smugglers were in their custody, allowing the accused to flee.

The police and locals conducted a search operation in the Bongalmora area, leading to the apprehension of the two women identified as Rumena Begum and Salma.

The prime accused, Saddam Hussain, and his father, Abul Khayer, are currently on the run. Salma and Rumena are reportedly related to them.
