UIDAI Issues Guidelines for Safe Aadhaar Card Usage
Guwahati: Amid rising online fraud and other cybercrimes, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released many advisories for Aadhaar card holders.
The UIDAI has asked citizens to use Aadhaar with confidence as they see fit to access benefits and services, but to do so with maintaining the same level of usage hygiene as with any other identity document, such as a bank account, PAN, or passport.
According to the UIDAI, Aadhaar serves as a single point of contact for residents across the nation for both online and offline identification verification.
UIDAI said that in addition to biometric locking it also offers Aadhaar locking. Residents may lock their biometrics or Aadhaar if they anticipate not using them for a specific amount of time. The same can be quickly and conveniently opened as needed.
A person can review their Aadhaar authentication history for the previous six months on the UIDAI website or the m-Aadhaar app. Additionally, UIDAI notifies users through email on each authentication. As a result, by linking an email address to an Aadhaar number, residents would be informed whenever their Aadhaar number is verified.
A variety of services can be accessed and updating mobile numbers with Aadhaar is a smart decision with OTP-based Aadhaar authentication.
Moreover, the UIDAI advised residents to never leave their Aadhaar letter, PVC card, or a replica of either item unattended. Residents are encouraged not to publicly disclose their Aadhaar especially on social media and other open forums. Aadhaar holders should not divulge their m-Aahaar PIN to anybody and should not give their Aadhaar OTP to any unauthorised parties.
The UIDAI also asked Aadhar users to contact toll-free helpline 1947 which is available 24×7 or email at help@uidai.gov.in for any Aadhar related query.
