Guwahati: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was admitted to the Delhi-based All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on December 26.
According to sources, the 63-year-old Sitharaman has been admitted to the hospital’s private ward at around 12 noon.
A politician and economist, Sitharaman has been India’s minister of finance and corporate affairs since 2019.
She held the positions of Defence and Finance Minister, making her India’s second female finance minister.
The finance minister said that India is referred to as the pharmacy of the world because it offers medicine of international standards at competitive prices in recent remarks made at a graduation ceremony at a university in Tamil Nadu.
