Union minister Anurag Thakur criticizes Mamata over institute claim

Guwahati: Union minister Anurag Thakur criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday for her comments about the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute’s (CNCI) second campus in Kolkata, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the day before.

Thakur took a go at Banerjee, saying that as chief minister, she should know the difference between a short-lived Covid-19 centre and a world-class cancer institute. His comments came a day after West Bengal’s chief minister claimed that the endeavour had previously been established by her government a long time ago.

“But unfortunately, neither your corona management nor your remark about Kolkata’s Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute is successful,” Thakur wrote in a series of Hindi tweets.
